DISPUTE RESOLUTION PRACTICE AREAS |
Dispute Resolution Although we live in an increasingly litigious society, there are alternatives to litigation. Dispute resolution (DR) affords parties an opportunity to resolve their disputes without the necessity of trial. DR encompasses mediation, arbitration, summary trials, dispute review panels and an increasing variety of dispute resolution mechanisms that is limited only by the imagination of people who want to see disputes resolved. |

Arbitration RTT regularly represents clients in arbitrations before single-member panels and three-member panels in South Carolina and other states. Some arbitrations are conducted pursuant to the American Arbitration Association (AAA) rules, while others are not. Our lawyers have arbitrated everything from personal injury claims to contested construction contracts to a variety of business disputes. Our lawyers have also served as arbitrators on arbitration panels. Ryan McCabe is an arbitrator certified by the South Carolina Supreme Court's Board of Arbitrator and Mediator Certification. Shareholders Kris Cato, a labor arbitrator, and Paul Platte, a labor and commercial litigation arbitrator, are on the panel of approved arbitrators for the AAA.

Mediation The attorneys of RTT are experienced with the mediation process in both state and federal courts, many of which now require mediation. Our attorneys provide services as mediators, as well as advocates for litigants. Kris Cato, Darra Coleman, Steven Moon and Bob Thomas are certified as circuit court mediators by the South Carolina Supreme Court's Board of Arbitrator and Mediator Certification. Darra Coleman is certified as a family court mediator.
